As a fan, I am absolutely thrilled about Blair Rich’s return to entertainment and her new role at Legendary! With over two decades of marketing experience at Warner Bros., where she was instrumental in campaigns for iconic franchises like Harry Potter and DC films, it’s clear that she knows how to create a blockbuster.
Blair Rich — the longtime Warner Bros. marketing veteran — has landed at Legendary.
Rich is set to step into Dune’s studio as their Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, with a direct line to both CEO Joshua Grode and Head of Production Mary Parent. This position entails overseeing worldwide marketing strategies and incorporating advanced technology into those operations.
After an exciting journey at Virgin Galactic, I’ve now embarked on a new chapter in entertainment, this time with Legendary! As their newest team member, I was previously responsible for developing the consumer-facing space tourism product at Virgin Galactic, serving as their Chief Business Officer. Before that, I spent two decades honing my marketing skills at Warners, contributing to iconic campaigns like those for the Harry Potter and DC films, among other blockbuster studio productions. I bid farewell to Warners in 2020.
According to Grode, Blair is a trailblazing inventor. She boasts an impressive background in creating some of the world’s most powerful brands and popular entertainment series, as he stated. Her joining our top-tier Legendary team, with her forward-thinking perspective on global entertainment and her unique blend of strategic and creative talent, will elevate everyone at Legendary. With her arrival, we are now more robust than ever, embarking on a fresh chapter of our long-term growth strategy.
In his announcement, Rich stated, “In the future development of Legendary, we are dedicated to captivating audiences through exceptional, impactful interactions. These experiences will forge bonds that ignite creativity and enhance enjoyment with our brands, all while exploring and maximizing fresh business and income prospects.
Legendary’s upcoming projects feature the Minecraft movie alongside Warner Bros., a Street Fighter film based on the well-known video game, and an unnamed project starring Tom Cruise under the direction of Alejandro G. Iñárritu. In the television realm, the series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, previously produced by Legendary, has been granted a second season extension by Apple.
In October, Wanda Group’s remaining stake in Legendary was purchased. Now, the company is exclusively owned by its management and Apollo. Grode stated to THR about this change: “We see a chance to keep producing excellent content, both for film and television, and to extend our efforts in these areas. Previously, we could do this, but now we can do it through natural growth and mergers and acquisitions.
