As a seasoned gamer who has followed the rollercoaster ride that is reality TV for decades, I must say, the latest news about Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s divorce hits close to home, especially after their tumultuous journey on Vanderpump Rules.
Around half a year since they announced their separation, the star of “The Valley,” Brittany Cartwright, has recently filed for divorce from Jax Taylor.
According to TMZ, Cartwright filed for divorce from her ‘Vanderpump Rules’ co-star, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. The couple separated on January 24th. In the petition, Cartwright requested that neither of them receive spousal support. She is aiming to gain primary legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son Cruz, with visitation rights for Taylor.
A month ago, a representative for Taylor admitted to TMZ that he was undergoing in-hospital care for his mental health issues following their split. The ex-Bravo star seemed to express his choice to seek treatment, posting an Instagram Story showing him kissing Cruz on the cheek. He wrote, “Trying to get better for you buddy, I love you so much.”
Cartwright initially discussed their break on their shared podcast “When Reality Hits” in February. “Jax and I have chosen to spend some time apart,” she explained, “and I decided to move into a different residence to create some distance for the benefit of my mental wellbeing.”
Despite wrapping up filming for the first season of the Vanderpump Rules spinoff in 2023, production resumed on Peacock to document the fallout following their breakup announcement. The newly shot footage showcased the mounting tension between the couple, culminating in a moment when Cartwright reached her limit.
“Jax seems to drain the energy from me and extinguish my brightness,” Cartwright expressed during a private moment after an argument where Taylor accused her of drinking too much, which her fellow cast members refuted. “I wonder how much more of this I can endure? It’s making me see all the minor annoyances I’ve tolerated for the past nine years of my life.”
