Byron Allen’s media corporation has appointed a fresh financial executive to manage the operations of their popular television brand, The Weather Channel

Christopher T. Young, who spent over fifteen years in top management positions at Entravision, a media company catering to the Latino market, has been appointed as both Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at The Weather Channel, while also joining Allen Media Group in this role, as per their announcement made on Wednesday

The individual, who is young and has experience running an outdoor advertising company called Vista Media, as well as holding positions at various banking institutions, will be situated in both Los Angeles and Atlanta. This is because the main campus of The Weather Channel is located in Atlanta. He will report to both Allen and Christopher Malone, who serves as Allen’s Chief Financial Officer

In 2018, Allen acquired The Weather Channel linear TV network at an estimated cost of around $300 million. It’s worth noting that the digital assets of the brand were offloaded by IBM to a private equity investment group named Francisco Partners last year

Allen Media Group’s portfolio encompasses various assets such as the website TheGrio, local TV stations in numerous cities, streaming service HBCU Go, and branded channels like Cars.TV and Pets.TV. In May, the company implemented significant layoffs and cost-reduction measures, impacting different departments to facilitate a restructuring process
