Capcom Issues Warning Over Modding in Monster Hunter Wilds

At long last, the moment has arrived. Capcom has officially started taking action against unauthorized mods and cheats that impact game data in Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds). This is most noticeable in High Rank Investigations, Field Surveys, and other in-game activities such as the Arena. The company cautioned that these alterations could potentially cause major disruptions to gameplay and, under certain circumstances, make the game impossible to play.

Capcom and the Monster Hunter Wilds team recommend that hunters steer clear of quests they believe might be tampered with. Joining such quests may make players accomplices, which could result in temporary suspensions or even permanent bans from the account.

Experienced gamers might quickly recognize heavily altered missions, whereas novice hunters may find it challenging to distinguish them. For instance, there are no genuine missions in Wilds with more than three monsters to hunt simultaneously, and the rewards have a fixed limit. To assist, Capcom has provided guidelines to help both newbies and veterans identify manipulated content.

As a gamer, I always remember to avoid any questionable quests if I feel even the slightest doubt about them. Sometimes, you might think you’ve joined a legitimate quest, but it could be modded without your knowledge. In these instances, Capcom advises us to promptly leave the quest and shut down the game without saving first. That’s because the autosave feature only kicks in after the results screen of the quest. So, better safe than sorry!

This is just the start; Capcom intends to implement additional strategies in upcoming updates to more effectively identify and address cheaters, whether they’re altering Arena Quest timers or tampering with quest rewards.
