Carpet Company x Vans Revamp the Old Skool 36

As a seasoned gamer with an eye for fashion and a heart for exclusivity, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of the Vans Skate Old Skool 36+ by Carpet Company. My gaming life has taught me to appreciate the rare and the limited, much like these 1977 pairs of shoes inspired by the 1977 Style 36 model.

The white and yellow colorway, a classic combo that reminds me of my old Atari joystick, is a nod to nostalgia. The black form strip, red co-branded insignia on the tongue, and silver Carpet Company star on the heel add just enough modern flair to keep things interesting, like adding a new character skin in my favorite game.

The yellowed off-white outsole and the yellow pull tab attached to the back are subtle details that show the designers paid attention to every inch of this collaboration. It’s like finding a hidden Easter egg in a video game level, a delightful surprise that adds to the overall experience.

Each sneaker’s number out of 1977 is stamped on the inside of the tongue, making each pair unique, just like the gamertags we choose to represent ourselves online. The additional Carpet Company and Vans branding etched underneath serves as a reminder of the collaboration’s pedigree, much like the developer’s logo at the start of every game I play.

To top it all off, let me tell you this – just like finding that secret level in a game, getting my hands on these limited edition kicks will feel like a victory. And as for a joke, here it is: They say I have an eye for fashion… well, it’s a pixelated world and these sneakers are 8-bit perfection!

The new joint project between the footwear brand and the Baltimore duo takes cues from Vans’ 1977 Style 36 design, producing only 1977 units. The shoes sport a white and yellow color scheme, with a black accent strip, a red co-branded emblem on the tongue, and a silver Carpet Company star on the heel side. A yellowed off-white base finishes the look, accompanied by a yellow pull tab at the back.

The number of each sneaker, among a total of 1977, is marked inside the shoe tongue, accompanied by branding from The Carpet Company and Vans, which is subtly engraved below.
