Coogler emphasized that the series will focus on Riri Williams, whom he refers to as a street-level heroine, and have her confront The Hood, a character grounded in magic rather than another armored suit.

Herzog has revealed that this film is inspired by the real-life tale of the Chaplin sisters, Freda and Greta, who gained worldwide fame following their involvement in a harassment trial. The Chaplin twins were renowned for their identical attire and synchronized speech.
