In some instances, it seemed as if the centrality of certain characters necessitated their demise to justify their departure, making it hard to imagine them leaving without such a dramatic exit. However, other departures were upsetting due to the seemingly unfair way in which their storylines concluded, leaving fans disappointed and yearning for more from “Grey’s Anatomy”. The most distressing exits were a blend of these reasons, making them all the more poignant and memorable.

Yet, the ladies who did manage to secure their spots showcase the boundless potential of women in film and how their artistic influence has sculpted this medium into what it is today.
