Talented actors elevate writing to greatness, and Aimee is one such actor we happened to land. Her music is something I admire deeply, and having her portray Maria’s character while singing live in the film was a dream come true for me. I aimed to blend genres as much as possible throughout this project, and incorporating live music in a movie has always been an aspiration of mine. Having Aimee present during filming, actually performing the music for us, made it all feel particularly meaningful. On the final day of shooting, she gave an emotional performance that left everyone in tears. I believe her impact will be just as powerful when viewers experience the finished movie.
