As reported by India Today, his daughter Pia Benegal confirmed the sad news. In the 70s and 70s, he was a pioneer of parallel cinema in India and is known for producing popular films like Zubeidaa starring Karisma Kapoor, Ankur featuring Shabana Azmi, and Manthan. Unfortunately, Benegal had been dealing with a kidney-related illness and passed away just a week after celebrating his 90th birthday.
