As a movie enthusiast, I’ve learned that Netflix won’t be showcasing Ezra Edelman’s documentary after all. Instead, they’re planning to collaborate with Prince’s estate, aiming to bring fresh content inspired by the legendary artist. It seems that Prince’s extensive archive will soon be accessible to all, offering a glimpse into previously undiscovered works of this musical genius.

Interestingly, Prince’s estate had been critical of Edelman’s documentary in the past, using harsh words like “sensationalized” and pointing out inaccuracies they found in the content. Now, with Netflix’s new direction for The Purple Rain singer’s content, we can expect a more authentic portrayal that truly reflects Prince’s artistry.

According to its appearance on paper, “Flight Risk” seems promising as a potential box office success: It boasts a talented director (Mel Gibson, known for “Braveheart”), an impressive cast that includes Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery, and Topher Grace, and an engaging plot revolving around a U.S. Marshal transporting a witness over Alaska while the autopilot malfunctions, leading to chaos. Additionally, Wahlberg is taking on the role of a villain for the first time in nearly 30 years, which adds intrigue. However, despite these appealing aspects, it appears that “Flight Risk” has not been well-received by audiences.

In terms of upcoming book-to-movie adaptations, I fervently hope no other literary franchise suffers the same fate as Veronica Roth’s Divergent series. From day one, numerous viewers expressed their dislike for the first film, and unfortunately, Lionsgate hastily produced the sequels, ultimately damaging the project. Fans of the books were denied the opportunity to witness the on-screen conclusion of the series as the final installment was never adapted. Although it’s been nearly a decade since the Divergent movies, the author has recently revisited the topic of her original ending and its reception by fans.
