My friends, I’m about to go on a rant. Before I get in too deep, though, I’d like to say that I’m not trying to take away from any picture on the 2024 movie schedule that hasn’t been nominated. And hey, the 2025 Golden Globe nominations have rewarded some pretty fantastic movies from this year’s calendar. But with the pleasantries aside, I need to go into why I’m still pretty mad that writer/director Alex Garland’s Civil War was shut out of this year’s crop of nominees.

Willem Dafoe is renowned for his tireless work ethic in the acting industry, a reputation he has maintained over many years. In the year 2024, he graced the screens in four different productions, namely ‘Kinds of Kindness’, ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, ‘Saturday Night’, and ‘Nosferatu’. During interviews for ‘Nosferatu’, where Dafoe plays a character determined to annihilate the malevolent Count Orlock, he was queried by Entertainment Tonight about a cherished role, Norman Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin. The drummer and ex-girlfriend to Scott is played to perfection by Alison Pill, helping to bring to life the delicious ensemble first laid out in Bryan Lee O’Malley’s iconic graphic-novel series. The creator was then heavily involved in Edgar Wright’s acclaimed film adaptation — and next came the highly anticipated anime series on Netflix. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has been perceived to be a one-and-done sort of project, but, of course, we’re itching for more. MovieWeb was fortunate to catch up with Pill, who had reunited with her film co-stars for the animated show, to gather any additional insight into the thrilling franchise’s future. She told us:
