Ever since its debut on Netflix on September 6, “Rebel Ridge” has dominated their charts, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s an intense thriller that combines insightful sociopolitical commentary with enough nail-biting drama and action to make it a potential classic in the future, much like “Rambo” or “Walking Tall”. The compelling story about a Marine veteran battling small-town corruption seems to mirror current events – leading one to wonder: Could “Rebel Ridge” be based on real events?

It’s almost become customary to say that the release of “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” is being delayed again. Originally planned by Sony Pictures for a theater release this year, “Across the Spider-Verse” would have preceded it, and discussions about a fourth film might already be underway. However, the third installment has been pushed back indefinitely from its initial March 2024 release date without a new one being set yet. The film was initially slated for a swift release, appearing in theaters less than a year after “Across the Spider-Verse” premiered mid-2023. Despite fans eagerly waiting for a release date for “Beyond the Spider-Verse”, recent gossip hints that we may have to wait even longer for positive updates.

In the Spider-Man universe, J.K. Simmons is now universally associated with his portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson. Despite this iconic role, Simmons’ acting career spans far beyond the realm of comic books. Recently, at the Toronto International Film Festival, the actor known for “Red One” discussed the movie script he refers to as a “life-altering experience”. This was the role he felt compelled to accept, which was that of the abrasive teacher Terence Fletcher in Damien Chazelle’s Academy Award-winning drama, Whiplash.
