The transformation of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, once an unknown actor, into a widely acclaimed figure in Bollywood is truly inspiring. His breakthrough came with Anurag Kashyap’s two-part black comedy crime film, Gangs of Wasseypur, released in 2012. However, the narrative’s logic takes a hit, as what starts as a promising setup devolves into predictable tropes. The film effectively uses striking cinematography, swift editing, and an ominous soundtrack to generate suspense, but the plot’s shortcomings become apparent. Characters initially portrayed with convincing backstories find themselves succumbing to typical genre clichés, transforming supposedly intelligent individuals into easy prey. The film’s intended thought-provoking layers disappoint when rationality is discarded in favor of senseless actions.

As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that “Outer Banks” was the escape the globe craved when it debuted in April 2020. This series revolves around John B. and his gang – JJ, Pope, and Kiara (or Kie) – as they grapple with a captivating mystery involving gold and the disappearance of John B.’s father. The enigma they’re trying to unravel is undoubtedly intriguing, but what truly kept “Outer Banks” among Netflix’s most-watched shows is its compelling characters. From the newest member of their crew, Sarah Cameron, and her enigmatic family, to a plethora of crime lords, there’s no dearth of fascinating personalities.
