Before audiences have a chance to see Paul Mescal’s acting in “Gladiator II”, Ridley Scott is already collaborating with this rising talent on a new venture. In the sequel, Mescal portrays Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielson) and Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe), who escaped Rome and harbored intense animosity towards the Roman military. After being enslaved, Lucius is compelled to fight in the same Colosseum as his father once did, providing amusement for the people of Rome at the capricious will of the tyrannical Emperors Geta (Joseph Quinn) and Caracala (Fred Hechinger).
