When Dune: Prophecy debuts on HBO, it seems that not even the formidable strength of the sandworm can bear the overburdened and superfluous nature of this sequel. After the success of Dune: Part Two, it’s a tough act to follow for any film, even the next installment in the Dune franchise. Having Dune: Prophecy slated as the next release feels like an injustice to both the series and its fans, particularly considering the chilly reception towards TV spin-offs from Marvel and Star Wars. Not every story needs to be part of an extended universe, and in the case of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series, it seems entirely unnecessary given his focused approach to adaptation.

The follow-up to “Joker: Folie à Deux” has underperformed at the box office, scoring an unusually poor D on CinemaScore. This new rating makes it the lowest-rated comic book film ever, surpassing the previous record holder, 2015’s “Fantastic Four,” which received a “C-.” Interestingly, the 2019 predecessor of “Folie à Deux,” titled simply “Joker,” had managed a higher grade with a “B+.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt, a dynamic duo on screen, have consistently gifted us with their captivating performances and unparalleled camaraderie for more than two decades. Although he encountered financial troubles in the subsequent decade and his career took a dip as a result, Coppola’s name still carries enough weight to garner interest from audiences.
