As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I find it truly heartening to see real-life heroes like Charlize Theron receive recognition for their selfless dedication to making the world a better place. Her tireless work on issues ranging from education and reproductive health to gender-based violence and LGBTQ rights is nothing short of inspiring.
Baby2Baby will be giving Charlize Theron some love on Nov. 9.
The Academy Award-winning actress, producer, and charity advocate has been selected to receive the Giving Tree Award at the organization’s annual star-studded gala in Los Angeles. According to Baby2Baby, this award is given to a prominent figure who has shown extraordinary dedication towards enhancing the lives of underprivileged children.
I’m thrilled to be joining an esteemed group of ladies who have previously received this recognition. Names like Salma Hayek Pinault, Kim Kardashian, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Garner, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Amy Adams, Drew Barrymore, Chrissy Teigen, and Vanessa Bryant are already part of this roster. As a gamer, I’m honored to stand alongside these incredible women!
Theron expressed her heartfelt gratitude for being recognized, an honor that she’s received due to over three decades of dedication towards various causes such as education, reproductive health, combating gender-based violence, HIV prevention among youth, LGBTQ rights, and youth development, to name a few. She established the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project in 2007 and has also worked as a United Nations Messenger of Peace.
Speaking about Baby2Baby’s efforts, she expressed, “Their unwavering commitment to helping women, children, and families nationwide is truly remarkable. Through my experiences with CTAOP, I’ve witnessed the impact we can collectively make when we support young people and their communities. I wholeheartedly align with their goal of striving for a more fair world.
Baby2Baby co-CEOs Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof expressed their excitement about honoring Charlize Theron with The Giving Tree Award at this year’s Baby2Baby Gala. They find inspiration in Charlize’s consistent support for children, demonstrated through her personal life as well as her philanthropic efforts like the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. Across the globe, Charlize has been a long-standing advocate for vulnerable women and girls. As an organization primarily serving single mothers, Baby2Baby appreciates Charlize’s commitment and eagerly anticipates celebrating her on their most significant event of the year.
This year’s event is backed by a variety of sponsors such as the title sponsor, Paul Mitchell, joined by Merit, Volvo Car USA, Velocity Black, and Summer Fridays. The Baby2Baby gala serves as the organization’s primary fundraiser, contributing to over 60% of its annual budget. Over the past 13 years, Baby2Baby has provided over 450 million essential items like diapers, formula, and clothing to children in need through homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care agencies, hospitals, and underprivileged school districts.
