Chris Evans Calls Marvel Return in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ a “Dream Come True”

As a seasoned gamer and Marvel enthusiast, I must say that Chris Evans‘ return as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine was nothing short of exhilarating! It felt like stepping back into a time machine, transporting me back to my first encounters with the Fantastic Four comics.

The time Chris Evans spends reprising his role as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in the Marvel production of Deadpool & Wolverine will be an unforgettable one for him.

On Wednesday, the actor shared on his Instagram Stories his gratitude towards the film’s team – the cast, crew, and especially the director – for allowing him to once again play the iconic superhero role, following a 17-year break.

“I’m grateful to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy for allowing me to be involved in such an amazing film! These three are truly wonderful people. A special thank you goes out to Ryan for making it all possible. Playing Johnny once more was a dream I never thought would come true, and he’ll always hold a special spot in my heart.”

The “Ghosted” star posted a picture, too, showing him with three other men on the set of Deadpool and Wolverine.

Although Chris Evans is primarily known for his portrayal of Captain America in the Marvel Cinemaverse, some fans might overlook the fact that before his departure following 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame”, he played another superhero character over a considerable period. Specifically, he starred as Johnny Storm in the 2005 film “Fantastic Four” and its sequel, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” released in 2007.

As I watched the epic crossover between Deadpool and Wolverine, I couldn’t help but speculate if Evans would embody Captain America in this multiverse. But lo and behold, it turned out he was none other than a Johnny Storm variant, transforming into the blazing Human Torch right before our eyes! Even the unflappable Deadpool seemed taken aback by the spectacle.

In the film, the actor known for Knives Out makes an appearance alongside several other notable guest stars. For instance, Jennifer Garner takes on the role of Elektra once more, while Wesley Snipes reappears as Blade. Channing Tatum plays Gambit in this production, and Blake Lively assumes the character of Lady Deadpool.

The action-packed duo of Deadpool and Wolverine, who set a new box office record with a staggering $211 million opening domestically, is still playing in cinemas near you.
