Chris Hemsworth Got Asked About His Viral Crying Scene In Deadpool And Wolverine, And I Was More Intrigued By His Answer Than I Expected

As a die-hard Marvel fan who has been following the MCU since its inception in 2008, I can confidently say that the “Crying Thor Holding Deadpool” scene from Deadpool and Wolverine has left me utterly intrigued. The mystery surrounding Thor’s tears is a tantalizing enigma that has me on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the answers that Marvel Studios will undoubtedly provide.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but draw parallels between my gaming sessions and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). There are so many characters and plot points introduced in the MCU that leave us hanging, often teased in mid-credits scenes. We wait with bated breath, wondering if they’ll ever develop these intriguing characters or storylines further… or at all.

During an interview about his latest film “Transformers One,” Chris Hemsworth was playfully inquired by BlackGirlNerd why Thor was shedding tears. The actor from Down Under found this amusing, and jokingly hinted at the scene’s details with his “Transformers” colleague Brian Tyree Henry (who is also a Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran following his role in “Eternals”). Notably, Hemsworth didn’t dismiss the question, but instead pledged that the mystery would be unveiled if fans kept track of future MCU projects. You can watch his response right here:

There’s a great potential for Thor and Deadpool to appear together on screen – a scenario that might have seemed unlikely when the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) kicked off with Iron Man in 2008. However, due to Marvel Studios acquiring the rights to their “Fox Marvel” characters, it’s now possible for stars like Chris Evans, Jennifer Garner, and Wesley Snipes to make cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine, even after their superhero roles were believed to be finished.

When Shawn Levy discusses the matter, he appears somewhat uncertain if a solution exists. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly following the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, the director explained the Thor joke more clearly, stating:

In our initial plans, we aimed to create a standalone film, neither a prequel nor a sequel to any existing storyline. Kevin never pushed for continuity beyond this project. People have often questioned me about why Thor is crying in the movie, to which I’d reply, ” frankly, I don’t know.” No one has the answer, but it would be exciting to discover the reason.

Currently, it seems that Marvel Studios is eager to dissect and address the situation, particularly in light of the anticipated team-up events in upcoming films “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” It’s hard to imagine that the screenwriters aren’t already pondering over the poignant moment between Crying Thor and Deadpool, wondering how they can make it happen. When it finally does occur, it will feel like it was skillfully orchestrated from the beginning, much like when Falcon signaled Steve Rogers in “Avengers: Endgame.

100% pure gold. Keep an eye out for Digital releases of Deadpool and Wolverine within the next few weeks. Following that, Captain America: Brave New World graces the big screen in February of 2025.
