Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an outstanding game that truly merits its popularity. Selling one million copies of a new intellectual property (IP) is a significant milestone for Sandfall Interactive, and an increasing number of players are becoming engrossed in its captivating storyline.
However, as more individuals engage with the game, a recurring problem is causing growing frustration among players: the platforming segments. Compared to challenging encounters against the Paintress or the chromatic sheep, these platforming sections make even regular boss battles seem effortless.

If you haven’t experienced difficulty with that particular challenge in Act 2 on Gestral Beach yet, it’s because you haven’t tackled the Platforming Trial there. It can be quite a hassle. You have to navigate through multiple stories of what seems like haphazard debris, all while hoping you don’t fall victim to the game’s finicky platforming movements.
Initially, the stages seem quite manageable; platforms are lenient, and jumps are effortless. However, as difficult items such as the enigmatic Pictos or Lumina’s Colors start appearing in challenging positions, it’s not just about using your brain anymore. You need quick reflexes and a lot of patience, traits that this game’s platforming system seems reluctant to acknowledge.
Platforming isn’t a forte of Sandfall Interactive, but they are making an effort. It’s generally not awful, but when difficult stages appear, particularly the one at Gestral Beach, even seasoned Soulsborne players could find themselves close to losing their cool and tossing a controller in frustration.

What I found was that one element eased my difficult platforming experience: the groovy jazz soundtrack. It seemed like a festive atmosphere, much like Gestral’s words prior to starting the challenge. Even though I stumbled many times on the climb, I grooved along with the game’s lively melodies.

Approaching the finishing line, the music propelled me forward, coupled with the intriguing thought: What on earth is the prize for this absurd task? My heart raced rapidly. A single misstep would set me back to square one. It was reminiscent of that frustrating “Climbing Up” game on Steam that infuriated everyone.

Eventually, I arrived at the summit, and there awaited me a group of dancing Gestrals who informed me that I had been inducted into the “cool club,” an enigmatic title. While they may not be the most distinctive beings in the realm of Clair Obscur, their jovial celebration transformed the arduous journey into a worthwhile endeavor. Mission accomplished. Success achieved. And let me assure you, I’m quite content never to embark on that challenge again.
As a result, I’ll get a new swimsuit for my dog, Monoco. To be honest, this compensation seems fair considering everything I’ve been through.
