Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 Trailer Teases 5 New Episodes of the Karate Kid Series Coming to Netflix

As a movie critic who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s, I have to say that the latest trailer for Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 has me pumped! The action-packed footage showcases some intense new opponents, familiar faces, and even a few surprises.

In the thrilling sneak peek of Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2, Miyagi-Do is under stress. The freshly unveiled clips (down below) disclose that Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) has at last joined forces with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) in Barcelona, Spain for the worldwide karate event called Sekai Taikai. However, their apprehensive disciples are taken aback as they encounter formidable new adversaries throughout the next five episodes of the Netflix series.

As I’m brutally thrown off the mat by a powerful opponent, I land in the supportive arms of my friends and fellow Miyagi-Do teammates, Robby (Tanner Buchanan) and Miguel (Xolo Maridueña). Devon (Oona O’Brien) succumbs to what Johnny would call a “spectacular” spinning kick in mid-air. Even Tory (Peyton List), an ex-team member, experiences the bitter taste of defeat at the hands of the incredible Rayna Vallandingham, a real-life martial arts sensation on YouTube. Vallandingham’s character, Zara Malik, gloats over Tory after their encounter, saying:

“Welcome to Barcelona, bitch!”

Daniel works hard to soothe his team members and emphasizes that the tournament isn’t simply a battle between Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai, as 16 skillfully trained teams are participating in this esteemed competition. Simultaneously, Robby finds himself watching unhappily as Tory seems to be cozying up to the rogue Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee). Later, Robby and Tory face off against each other during the Sekai Taikai!

New Faces Join the Fight in Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2

Three fresh faces make an appearance in Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2, among them the highly significant character of Sensei Wolf, played by Lewis Tan from Mortal Kombat. Tan is also known for his roles as Shatterstar in Deadpool 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine. In the latest trailer, Johnny (Zabka) and Sensei Wolf engage in some playful banter reminiscent of their “Barcelona” dialogue.

In addition, the fresh footage sheds light on a topic that is also discussed: Daniel’s (Macchio) pursuit to uncover the enigmatic past of Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita), specifically why the esteemed karate master participated in the Sekai Taikai tournament. Co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg hinted at revealing more about Miyagi’s past and Daniel’s quest for answers in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Since the debut of this series, we’ve found it intriguing to delve into the character of Miyagi through Daniel LaRusso’s perspective. Throughout each season, our goal has been to infuse the essence of Miyagi into the storyline. As we approached this final season, we wanted to create a significant struggle for the Daniel LaRusso character, one that would question his beliefs about Mr. Miyagi. This concept is inspired by real-life situations where individuals often view their parents or mentors as flawless figures.

Schlossberg continued by saying:

“At first, they may seem to have control over their lives, but as you grow older, you begin to view your mentor as a complex individual. As of now, only five episodes of the final season are available, and he’s just starting to experience it. However, subjecting Daniel to such distress aligns with our approach in every season, and it provides us with the climactic finale we aspire for.

In simple terms, The second half of Cobra Kai Season 6 premieres on Netflix this coming Friday, November 15. You can catch all five new episodes then, either watching one at a time or binge-watching them. Interestingly, Martin Kove, who plays Kreese, accidentally leaked the release date for Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3 during an interview on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum in August. According to Kove, fans of The Karate Kid should expect the last five episodes of the Netflix series’ final season in February 2025.
