As a seasoned gamer with an eye for spotting patterns and unraveling intricate narratives, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation when I see Colman Domingo take on yet another captivating role. His career trajectory is reminiscent of a non-stop action RPG game, where he levels up his acting skills with each new project, tackling diverse genres and characters that would make any player envious.
In the newly released trailer for the Netflix conspiracy thriller, “The Madness,” set to premiere soon, Colman Domingo portrays a media commentator who unexpectedly discovers a murder he suspects he’s being falsely accused of committing.
At some point in the thrilling opening sequence, the character Domingo (as Muncie Daniels) expresses his unease, stating that he seems to have a target on his back. This is after he’s the sole observer of a crime at a secluded location in the Poconos forest.
With pressure mounting and the suspicion of a trap looming, Daniels endeavors to reconcile with his distant family and regain his long-lost convictions, all in an attempt to prove his innocence. The eight-episode thriller, featuring the Emmy award-winning actor as the lead character, will premiere on Netflix on November 28th.
For the captivating film “The Madness“, we have an exceptional lineup of actors: Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, John Ortiz, Tamsin Topolski, and Thaddeus J. Mixon. Dominigo has just completed filming for “Rustin“, a biographical drama about the renowned civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, which was produced by Netflix and Higher Ground. This project earned him his first ever Oscar nomination.
He won an Emmy in 2022 for his role on HBO’s Euphoria and has other credits for Warner Bros.’ The Color Purple, Selma, If Beale Street Could Talk, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and more recently Sing Sing, where Domingo played John “Divine G” Whitfield, a participant in New York State’s Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program which is run out of the film’s eponymous prison and sees the incarcerated producing and acting in stage productions.
Stephen Belber, the brainchild behind the gripping story of “The Madness“, collaborates as co-showrunner with VJ Boyd in this capacity. The limited series is skillfully guided by director Clement Virgo, under the banner of Chernin Entertainment. Notably, Chernin Entertainment holds a priority look deal at Netflix. Apart from Virgo, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kaitlin Dahill are also executive producers on this project.
