Dana Carvey Says Lorne Michaels Is Intrigued by Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni Legal Battle

According to Dana Carvey’s report, Lorne Michaels is closely monitoring the progress of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s continuous court case.

Towards the end of last year, Lively sued her co-star and director in “It Ends With Us,” Baldoni, claiming sexual harassment and initiating a smear campaign against her. In retaliation, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against both Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of extortion and defamation.

On Sunday, Lively and Reynolds were part of a crowd of celebrities gracing the 50th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live. At some point in the program, ex-cast members Tina Fey and Amy Poehler emerged onstage to interact with the audience, including Reynolds. When asked how he was feeling, Reynolds replied cheerfully, “Fantastic!”, which seemed to pique his curiosity as he followed up by asking, “What’s the latest gossip?

In the latest installment of the podcast “Fly on the Wall” hosted by Carvey and David Spade, during their discussion about the power couple’s attendance at the SNL anniversary show, where Carvey wasn’t present, he chose to reveal a text conversation he had with SNL co-creator Michaels following the event.

After texting Lorne, I said ‘I wish I could have been there,’ but instead of discussing the show, he replied with ‘Baldoni is going to countersue. I think Lively might get a new lawyer,'” Carvey shared with Spade, who was also an SNL cast member from 1986 to 1993.

The comedian switched topics by complimenting Tom Hanks’ sketch and Steve Martin’s monologue, yet it seemed like Michael’s thoughts were still on Lively-Baldoni. Carvey continued, mimicking Michaels, “He said something like, ‘I’m not sure where Ryan Reynolds stands in this, but they definitely have deep pockets.’

As a gamer, I might rephrase that in my own words like this:

While some folks are hooked on legal dramas, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, didn’t find Reynold’s joke amusing. He shared his thoughts with Billy Bush on the Hot Mics podcast earlier this week, saying, “I can’t think of anyone who’s made jokes about a situation like that, especially someone whose wife has been sexually harassed. It really surprised me.” He also referred to it as their latest unexpected move.
