Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, and Esai Morales Enlist for Sci-Fi Action Movie ‘War Machine’ (Exclusive)

As a diehard fan of action-packed sci-fi films and a connoisseur of stellar cast lineups, I am absolutely thrilled by the news that Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber have joined forces for “War Machine.” The fact that this movie is being helmed by Patrick Hughes, who gave us the action-comedy gem “The Man from Toronto,” has only heightened my anticipation.

The Alan Ritchson action vehicle War Machine has found its battalion.

Actor Dennis Quaid, who’s currently featured in the film “Reagan”, has joined forces with Stephen James, known for his role in “The Piano Lesson”, Jai Courtney, and Esai Morales in a sci-fi action movie titled “War Machine”. This project will be helmed by director Patrick Hughes, who’s also behind “The Man from Toronto”, for Netflix.

Additionally on the schedule, you’ll find actor-once-singer Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale from The Flash, and Daniel Webber of The Dirt.

This week, I’m thrilled to share that the project I’ve been eagerly anticipating starts filming down under in Australia! It’s being masterfully crafted by Todd Lieberman and Alex Young from Hidden Pictures, along with Hughes through his production house, Huge Film. I can hardly wait to see it all come together on the big screen!

The story, penned by Hughes and James Beaufort, unfolds over the last 24 hours of an extreme military selection procedure. It follows a group of Army Rangers as they face a danger that surpasses their wildest expectations.

Among the ranger candidates, it’s Ritchson who stands out as the front-runner. Meanwhile, James, Courtney, Richardson, Lonsdale, and Webber are also contenders, but they seem to be struggling a bit with the responsibilities. Quaid and Morales will portray the commanding officers in this scenario.

The executive producers for this project are Valerie Bleth Sharp, Richard Cook from Range Media Partners, and Gregory McLean of Huge Film.

Netflix acquired the project from Lionsgate, which was previously developing it.

Currently, Quaid can be seen on screens depicting President Ronald Reagan in an independent biopic titled “Reagan”. Additionally, he will star alongside Demi Moore in the highly anticipated horror film “The Substance”, which premiered at TIFF and is helmed by director Coralie Fargeat. The actor is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Brillstein Entertainment.

James can currently be seen in a film that’s garnering attention during the fall festival season. He stars in the cast of “The Piano Lesson,” an adaptation of August Wilson’s play which premiered at Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals. Additionally, he featured in Pamela Adlon’s comedy titled “Babes.” His breakthrough role was starring in “If Beale Street Could Talk.” James is represented by CAA and Range Media.

Courtney boasts an impressive collection of action movie roles, spanning from being part of Tom Cruise’s film “Reacher” and “Terminator Genisys”, to featuring in the comic book adaptations known as the “Suicide Squad” series. He is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Morrissey Management.

In the year 2023, Morales portrayed the enigmatic antagonist in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” and will continue to embody this character for the sequel, set to premiere in 2025. He is represented by Innovative Artists, LINK Entertainment, and Vault Entertainment.
