As a huge fan of Denzel Curry and the rich history of Southern hip-hop, I can hardly contain my excitement for the release of “King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2.” This upcoming project is especially meaningful to me because it’s a nod to Denzel’s roots and the sounds that have influenced his career. Hailing from South Florida myself, I deeply resonate with Denzel’s story of paying homage to the region’s unique hip-hop scene.
As a gamer, I’m super hyped up because Denzel Curry has just dropped one last single before the release of “King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2” this coming Friday. On the track “HOODLUMZ,” Denzel teams up with two other dope rappers, A$AP Rocky and PlayThatBoiZay. I remember how fire PlayThatBoiZay was on the final track “P.A.T.” from Curry’s “ZUU” LP, so I can only imagine what these three will bring to the table together!
Curry and Rocky view “HOODLUMZ” as a significant coming together of A$AP Mob and Raider Klan, two rap collectives that grew popular around the same time in the late 2000s but developed animosity towards each other by approximately 2012.
In the second volume of “King Of The Mischievous South,” Curry looks back at his early mixtape and celebrates the Southern sounds that have significantly influenced his musical journey as a native of South Florida.
Before releasing his collaborations with A$AP Rocky and PlayThatBoiZay, Curry previously dropped “HOT ONE” featuring A$AP Ferg and Tia Corine as well as “BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE” with That Mexican OT.
Listen to Denzel Curry’s new track “HOODLUMZ” with A$AP Rocky and PlayThatBoiZay, which is available now on all streaming platforms. The much-anticipated album “King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2” will be released in its entirety this coming Friday, July 19.
