As a dedicated follower who grew up watching Bollywood movies, I have always admired the kindness and professionalism that Salman Khan has shown throughout his career. Working with him in Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge was a dream come true for me, as I was a big fan of his even before I got the chance to work with him.
In the Hindi film world, Salman Khan is renowned for his down-to-earth and considerate demeanor. Not long ago, Dia Mirza, who collaborated with him on Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, confessed to being a devoted fan of his work. She was astounded when she got the opportunity to work alongside him. Furthermore, in those days, the film industry was predominantly male-driven, yet Salman Khan stood out for being exceptionally ‘supportive and protective’ towards her.
As I sat down for an interview with Connect Cine, I couldn’t help but reminisce about my unforgettable journey working alongside the legendary Salman Khan in Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge back in 2002. You see, even before we shared the silver screen together, I was absolutely smitten by this star, and when the opportunity to work with him came knocking, I eagerly said yes!
In the early 2000s, the gender balance in Bollywood was notably absent, with a stronger male presence. However, Salman stood out as unique amidst it all. Looking back, I can’t forget his exceptional kindness and concern, as he was always extremely protective and caring towards me.
Drawing from an unforgettable experience, I’ll recount a moment during the filming of our hit tune, “Chamke Choodi Khanke,” which took place in the vibrant cityscape of Jaipur. As we moved about, hundreds of enthusiastic fans trailed behind us, their cheers and whistles echoing through the bustling streets. To ensure our safety amidst the throng, Salman and I were escorted in a secure vehicle. A moment that still resonates with me is when he graciously insisted I enter the car first, demonstrating his thoughtfulness and concern for my wellbeing.
Dia Mirza acknowledges that his kind gesture moved her deeply and showered praise on Shah Rukh Khan for his jovial character. She described him as ‘light-hearted, playful, joyful, and tranquil’ to collaborate with. Additionally, the actress from Sanju mentioned that she rarely witnessed the megastar being troubled by the burdens of his fame, instead, she found him enjoyable to work alongside.
The movie titled “Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge” was helmed by Pankaj Parashar and featured Salman Khan, Dia Mirza, Sushmita Sen, Rajpal Yadav, Inder Kumar, Arbaaz Khan, and others in prominent roles. Notably, the tunes of this film, composed by Daboo Malik and Sajid-Wajid, gained immense popularity among the public.
