Diljit Dosanjh was supposed to play Priyanka Chopra's husband in a film, reveals Boney Kapoor; filmmaker recalls actress would tell her 'every night I think of this and imagine myself'

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the lives and careers of successful individuals, I find it fascinating to delve into the untold stories of their journeys to stardom. The tale of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Diljit Dosanjh’s almost-fated partnership in a film is one such captivating anecdote that showcases the power of dreams, determination, and fate.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Diljit Dosanjh are two highly-respected Indian artists who have risen to global fame. Coming from ordinary families and starting with modest beginnings, their success can be attributed to their unwavering dedication, tireless effort, and ambition to reach the top. Interestingly, you might not know that they were initially cast as a romantic couple in a movie! Boney Kapoor also shared that Priyanka would ponder over the script each night, visualizing herself in the role.

When conversing on Zoom, Boney Kapoor expressed admiration for Diljit Dosanjh, whom he will collaborate with in their upcoming movie, No Entry 2. It was during this conversation that the filmmaker-producer disclosed his longstanding desire to work with the Punjabi musician. Interestingly, Kapoor nearly cast Dosanjh alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas in a previous film project.

Expanding on the topic, Boney mentioned that he aimed to cast the actor-singer in a film which was conceptualized around six to seven years ago. Interestingly, this project was being considered before Priyanka moved to the U.S. and embarked on her American thriller drama series, Quantico. It seems that she had taken a liking to the idea they had planned.

Unfortunately, despite waiting for the actress from Bajirao Mastani for several years, the film was ultimately put on hold. Boney Kapoor also mentioned that whenever he spoke with her, she expressed interest, stating, “I have the script nearby, and every night I think about it and visualize myself in the role.

Discussing a film project that didn’t come to fruition earlier, the filmmaker revealed that the team had envisioned Diljit working alongside Priyanka Chopra. They had even interacted with Diljit, informing him that he would be cast as her on-screen husband in the movie. The Maidaan producer humorously commented, “Our connection goes way back!” He further mentioned that luck has now granted them a chance to collaborate again in No Entry 2.

Boney Kapoor expressed his pride in the Punjabi artist, praising his accomplishments both past and present, using the phrase “he has ascended” to describe his success. At present, the actor portraying Amar Singh Chamkila is nearing the end of his Dil-Luminati Tour across India.
