As a long-time admirer of Dolly Parton, I have always been in awe of her generosity and compassion. Her latest act of kindness towards the victims of Hurricane Helene is yet another testament to her unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Born and raised in Tennessee, she truly embodies the spirit of her home state – strong, resilient, and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Dolly Parton is lending a helping hand to the victims of the devastating Hurricane Helene.
On a Friday, the singer revealed plans for collaboration with Walmart, whereby her and her businesses aim to make charitable contributions to support people affected by the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.
Parton made the announcement at a Walmart in Newport, Tennessee.
During the gathering, Parton expressed that many people might be curious about her whereabouts. ‘Where’s Dolly?’ they ask. Truthfully, I’ve been just like everyone else, taking in all the recent events and brainstorming the most effective ways to move forward.
As someone hailing from the heart of Sevierville, Tennessee, I can’t help but feel a sense of belonging when I gaze upon the majestic mountains, wander through the verdant valleys, or follow the meandering rivers. These aren’t just geographical features; they’re my mountains, my valleys, and my flowing streams. The people here are my kin, and this place is my home.
Hey fellow gamers, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Remember the times when our virtual worlds were ablaze? We all chipped in, giving our best efforts to overcome the challenges. Well, here and now, I believe it’s time for us to rise once more, to step up and contribute as much as we can. Today, I wanted to share some exciting news – from my personal savings, I’m donating a million dollars right here, right now. However, there’s still so much left to do, and we’re tirelessly seeking other avenues to raise even more funds. Let’s unite, let’s conquer!
Beyond her personal contribution, Dolly Parton also declared that an additional $1 million will be donated through her businesses – Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show, and the Dollywood Foundation. This generous contribution will not only come from her but will also be matched, amounting to a total donation to the Mountain Ways Foundation nonprofit.
Moreover, my Dollywood businesses and the individuals I collaborate with have increased our initial million dollars by another million. So we’re off to a decent start. As mentioned earlier, we’re exploring new avenues for generating revenue because it’s clear that we’ll need significant funds, as you understand. And, as you can see, there’s still a lot more work to be done.
“I am totally with you because I am part of you. I love you,” Parton said.
Dolly Parton’s latest act of generosity adds to her esteemed record of philanthropy. In the year 2020, she donated an impressive $1 million towards researching vaccines at Vanderbilt University, a contribution that significantly supported the development of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine.
In 2021, she contributed to charities helping those affected by floods in Middle Tennessee, and back in 2016, she initiated the My People Fund to support families who suffered from wildfires in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Additionally, Parton started the Imagination Library in 1995, a program that distributes books to children aged newborn to 5 years old, regardless of their family’s income level.
