Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D: How to Craft & Use the Rainbow Drop

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent exploring the vast worlds of JRPGs, I can confidently say that the journey to craft the elusive Rainbow Drop in the Dragon Quest 3 Remake is one for the books! This magical item, capable of forming a bridge to the otherwise unreachable Zoma’s Citadel, has been a staple of my gaming memories.

In the Dragon Quest 3 Remake, the Rainbow Drop serves as a unique artifact enabling access to Zoma’s Fortress, which marks the final challenge of the game.

It’s well-known for its ability to create a mystical connection, allowing passage from the mainland to the otherwise unreachable fortress.

This article explains how to craft the Rainbow Drop and unlock access to the final dungeon.

How to Gather Three Key Items

The Rainbow Drop is an important item, though acquiring it is no easy feat.

To make the Rainbow Drop, gather three key items: the Sunstone, the Staff of Rain, and the Sacred Amulet.

Here’s where you can find each one:

1. Sunstone

The Sunstone is the easiest item to find, so it should be your first priority.

You can start your search at Tantegel Castle, where Robbin’ ‘Ood is locked up near the church.

Despite having a questionable past, Robbin ‘Ood decided to aid adventurers by imparting essential knowledge.

He mentions that the Sunstone is hidden in a lone chest on the castle’s second floor.

Make your way up to the upper level of Tantegel Castle, where you’ll discover the concealed treasure chest. It may not be immediately apparent, but a thorough search should lead you to it.

With the Sunstone in hand, you’re one step closer to the Rainbow Drop.

2. Staff of Rain

Next on your list is the Staff of Rain in the Shrine of the Spirit.

To get to this place, you should go towards the south from Cantlin. The shrine is hidden amidst a swampy, potentially harmful wetland and mountains.

To ensure your safety, always use the Safe Passage charm when traversing the marsh as it safeguards you against the dangerous landscape.

Within the sanctuary, ascend to the higher chamber. There, a Fairy is likely to appear and inform you that she serves Rubiss, the guardian overseeing your journey.

She clarifies her role in your mission and expresses gratitude for your determination to save Rubiss and face off against Zoma.

In appreciation for your kindness, she presents me with the Staff of Rain. With this artifact now in my possession, I’ve gathered two out of the required three items to create the elusive Rainbow Drop.

3. Sacred Amulet

The Sacred Amulet is the hardest item to obtain, requiring a visit to the Tower of Rubiss.

This towering structure boasts intricate passageways, hidden corridors, and a grand final confrontation at its summit.

Visit the town of Kol, located northeast of Alefgard, before starting this long journey.

The Faerie Flute can be found in Kol, near the hot springs. It is required to break the curse on Rubiss, who has been turned to stone.

After obtaining the Faerie Flute, go to the Tower of Rubiss and climb to the top.

On our journey, you’ll encounter many obstacles and brain-teasers, so make sure your team is well-prepared for whatever lies ahead.

Once you defeat the boss protecting Rubiss, play the Faerie Flute to lift her curse.

With Rubiss now liberated, she bestows upon you the Sacred Amulet and shares her insights on the upcoming steps. This last detail completes the puzzle.

How to Craft & Use the Rainbow Drop

Possessing the Sunstone, Staff of Rain, and Sacred Amulet gives you everything needed to create the Rainbow Drop.

Head towards the Sanctum situated on a secluded island in the southeastern part of Alefgard. Upon arrival, step inside the sanctuary and have a chat with the priest.

He’s going to put together the three components to make a Rainbow Drop. It’s worth noting that making the Rainbow Drop doesn’t deplete the Sacred Amulet, so you can continue wearing it as an adornment.

To use the Rainbow Drop, travel to the peninsula northwest of Rimuldar.

When you get to the spot, use the Rainbow Drop to make a bridge to Zoma’s Citadel.

The bridge is here to stay, allowing continuous entry to the final dungeon.

With this task completed, I’m ready to take on Zoma. Before marching into his citadel, let’s ensure my squad is geared up with top-tier equipment. Game on!

Important artifacts like the King’s Sword, Hero’s Defense Shield, Luminous Helmet, and Luminous Armor will greatly boost your odds of making it through safely.

Stock up on healing resources to handle the tough battles coming your way.

That’s everything you need to know about gathering the key items for crafting the Rainbow Drop and building the bridge. What’s your go-to gear loadout before facing Zoma in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D? Comment down below!
