Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are generally recognized as two extremely renowned child actors who decided to step away from Hollywood after leaving an indelible impact in the industry. From their early days on film sets, including their shared role as Michelle Tanner on “Full House”, Elizabeth Olsen, their sister, has also made a notable presence. Although they have collaborated extensively on numerous projects, the actress who is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was not always certain that she would follow in their footsteps during her upbringing.
The well-known twin sisters, once famed actresses now successful entrepreneurs with their high-end fashion label The Row, are thriving beyond the limelight. On the other hand, you’ll likely spot the younger Olsen sibling frequently again as Marvel Zombies debuts on Disney+ in the latter half of 2025. Previously involved in numerous comic book adaptations, the actress who starred in Oldboy recently visited Vanity Fair’s Scene Selection to discuss her elder sisters’ cinematic legacy. In this conversation, she shared memories of observing them at work and pondering whether she was ready for similar commitments.
As a child, the idea of having to set felt more like a chore than a task, which in turn made me reluctant to work. It’s hard for me to explain how exactly, but it seemed as though I absorbed this notion that it was my duty somehow. I always felt as if I were destined to perform this job, and it was mostly about whether or not I chose to accept it.
It appears as though Dualstar productions’ movies had a strong family vibe, with Elizabeth often present on the sets of her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley’s projects. Her brother Trent also shared this experience. Given their close involvement, it was natural to wonder if she might follow in her sisters’ footsteps, a path that eventually led to her achieving household name recognition, joining her two sisters as successful celebrities.
The three sisters from the show “How the West Was Fun” have kept building on their successes. A significant part of this can be attributed to MK + A’s consistent professionalism in Hollywood, consistently maintaining an active role in their business ventures. This is evident in The Row’s discerning approach towards success and attention to detail. As Elizabeth Olsen has mentioned previously, she has admired the two for setting examples that she has aimed to follow in her own career.

As a fan of the Olsen family, I’m delighted that Elizabeth managed to shed or accept the apprehensions about acting, and it’s understandable since Mary-Kate and Ashley’s unique reign doesn’t set a practical example for those in a partnership like theirs. Their advice must have been invaluable as she embarked on her independent career journey.
