Ella Purnell Plays a Serial Killer in Dark Comedy Series ‘Sweetpea’

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for dark comedies and a keen eye for compelling performances, I must say, the trailer for Sweetpea has me absolutely thrilled! Ella Purnell‘s transformation from a seemingly ordinary office manager to an enraged vigilante in this forthcoming series is nothing short of intriguing.

Over the past year, I’ve been on quite a ride! Following my breakthrough performance in “Yellowjackets,” I found myself voicing a character in an episode of the action-packed superhero series, “Invincible.” To top it all off, I made my live-action debut as Lucy MacLean in the highly anticipated adaptation of the post-apocalyptic video game, “Fallout.” What a fantastic journey it’s been!

Currently, Purnell plays Rhiannon Davis in the upcoming dark comedy series “Sweetpea,” airing on Sky Atlantic. The series, titled “The Emergence of Rage,” is an adaptation from the book of the same name by CJ Skuse, written for television by Kirstie Swain.

Appearing to lead a normal existence, managing an office by day, Davis secretly nurtures fury toward those she feels have wronged her in the past. An unexpected meeting with a stranger sets off a chaotic series of violent acts.

The television series draws inspiration from a novel with the identical title, penned by CJ Skuse. Kirstie Swain has skillfully transformed it into a screenplay.

Watch the official trailer for Sweetpea above. The show premieres on Thursday, October 10.
