For film enthusiasts, Hulu remains a trusted choice for streaming movies, and it seems there’s always something new to watch. The upcoming month is no exception as Hulu provides its subscribers with an array of choices to indulge in. With so many films lined up for release next month, viewers might just be tempted to welcome the New Year with one of the numerous movies that Hulu has planned for us.

The streaming service is set to become your preferred destination for heart-pounding thrills and non-stop action, offering an adrenaline rush for the months ahead. Although these genres may not appeal to everyone’s taste, there will surely be something enticing for every viewer to savor. ‘The Town’ (2010)

Under the direction of Ben Affleck, the crime-packed thriller titled “The Town” unfolds, focusing on Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck), a ruthless Boston bank robber who leads his team. He has no significant ties to anything beyond his best friend and unofficial brother, James (Jeremy Renner). However, this lifestyle of crime takes a turn when they take Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall), a bank employee hostage during one of their heists. Intrigued by her, Doug pursues her, eventually finding himself falling in love. As their bond deepens, his desire to abandon the criminal life grows stronger. Yet, escaping this world proves to be more challenging than he anticipates. The film boasts impressive performances from Jon Hamm, Blake Lively, Titus Welliver, Pete Postlethwaite, Chris Cooper, and Slaine. Catch The Town on January 1st as it streams online.

‘Fall’ (2022)

In a first-person narrative, I’d rephrase it as: I found myself drawn into the chilling world of “Fall,” a psychological horror survival film. The story revolves around two close friends, Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), who share a passion for mountain climbing. Unfortunately, a devastating event occurs when Becky’s husband, Dan (Mason Gooding), slips during a climb and meets an untimely end. This heart-wrenching loss pushes Becky into the depths of alcoholism, and she vows never to return to the mountains again.

As the anniversary of Dan’s passing approaches, Hunter extends an invitation to Becky: a daring climb up a soon-to-be demolished 2,000-foot broadcasting tower. Despite her reservations, Becky consents, intending to scatter Dan’s remains from the summit. Regrettably, when they reach the top, both Becky and Hunter find themselves in a precarious situation, trapped. Fall premieres on January 8.

’65’ (2023)

65, penned and orchestrated by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, tells the story of astronaut Mills (Adam Driver) who forcefully lands on an unidentified planet characterized by a hazardous environment following a crash. Regrettably, all his co-passengers perished in the mishap, save for a young girl named Koa (Ariana Greenblatt), whom he endeavors to aid.

Since they can’t understand each other due to a broken translator and the fact that they don’t speak the same language, communication becomes challenging. When it becomes clear that their only chance for rescue lies ahead, he and Koa are compelled to traverse unfamiliar terrain. Filled with dangerous prehistoric creatures, their struggle for survival transforms into an unexpected epic battle. 65 premieres on January 8.

‘The Silent Hour’ (2024)

In this gripping crime drama, titled “The Silent Hour“, we follow the story of Boston police detective Frank Shaw, portrayed by Joel Kinnaman. An unfortunate incident leaves Frank deaf while he’s on duty, and 16 months later, he and his partner Doug Slater (Mark Strong) find themselves tasked with safeguarding Ava Fremont (Sandra Mae Frank), a mute woman who is about to testify in a murder trial.

Regrettably, Mason Lynch, a crooked individual accompanied by his band of criminals and corrupt police officers, are bent on thwarting her efforts. They track her down, coming close to ending her life before Frank steps in. As they attempt to flee, a tense situation unfolds within the apartment building where Ava resides, leaving them with no escape route. The Silent Hour will be available for streaming on January 12.

‘Arcadian’ (2024)

In the near future, following a devastating apocalypse, the movie “Arcadian” is an action-horror film. It tells the story of father, Paul (played by Nicolas Cage), and his teenage sons, Thomas (Maxwell Jenkins) and Joseph (Jaeden Martell). They reside on a secluded farmhouse, distanced from what remains of civilization. By day, they maintain a peaceful existence; however, the night brings unimaginable chaos.

In a world overrun by fearsome beasts that roam at night, they stay safe inside their home once the sun goes down. But when Thomas fails to come back before dark one evening, Paul is compelled to venture out from their fortified abode in search of him, for fear the monstrous creatures might find him first. Miraculously, he locates Thomas but sustains severe injuries himself. With their father’s teachings as their guide, now it falls on Thomas and Joseph to apply those skills if they wish to endure the approaching night. Arcadian premieres on January 24.
