As a film enthusiast who’s seen more than a few movies in my time, I must say that both “Blitz” and “Bread & Roses” stand out as powerful narratives that delve deep into the human spirit.
Each month, Apple TV+ maintains its commitment to providing subscribers with a selection of top-quality television series and films. Just like every other month, November promises exciting new movies and the return of favorite TV shows on this streaming service. Though the volume of content may not be overwhelming in the coming weeks, there’s no shortage of engaging programs for viewers to enjoy.
Two well-known series are set to continue their stories in their second seasons, while Apple TV+ is also set to add a historical drama and a compelling documentary to its streaming lineup. While there may not be an abundance of humorous films or shows arriving in November, viewers will still find these offerings worth watching. With such impressive casts featured across every program and film, it would be a shame to miss out on any content Apple TV+ has planned for next month.

The black comedy series titled “Bad Sisters” revolves around the five Garvey sisters – Eva (Sharon Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson) – who reside in Dublin, Ireland. Having always stood by each other, they’ve made a vow to protect one another. Despite suspicions of being involved in his death, they appear to be innocent.
Sadly, Grace’s siblings find themselves under scrutiny in a life insurance probe. The narrative alternates between periods before JP’s demise, where the sisters conspire to take his life, and afterwards, when an insurance agent named Tom (played by Brian Gleeson) works tirelessly to uncover their supposed involvement. Desperate to preserve his faltering business, Tom leaves no stone unturned to prove that JP’s death was a result of the Garvey sisters’ wrongdoing. Catch Bad Sisters Season 2 on Nov. 13.

Silo is a science fiction dystopian drama series set in massive underground structures called silos buried hundreds of stories beneath the earth’s surface. Inside lives a community of around 10,000 people who are governed by rules they believe protect them and their future amidst a toxic wasteland that devastated the world above. The narrative starts with Juliette (played by Rebecca Ferguson), an engineer, investigating the death of one of her coworkers. But as she delves deeper into the mystery, she unearths a shocking truth that puts their entire enclosed society at risk.
Despite the massive structure’s age and purpose remaining a mystery, no one knows exactly when it was built or what its intended function was. Danger lurks for those who dare to uncover its secrets, as they often meet with tragic endings. Blitz
Stream on November 22
Titled “Blitz,” this film, penned and helmed by Steve McQueen, narrates the tale of a spirited nine-year-old named George (Elliott Heffernan), residing in London amid World War II. In the thick of Germany’s air assault on London, George’s mother, Rita (Saoirse Ronan), makes the heartrending decision to send him away for safety into the English countryside. However, George, with his adventurous spirit, leaps off the train mid-journey and hastens back to London. This action sets off a desperate search by a worried Rita to locate her missing child.
Growing up as a young Black man with a white mother, George has faced prejudice and pain. His father, who was sent away years ago for protecting himself from two abusive white men, isn’t part of his life. Instead, it’s just him, his mother, and his grandfather, Gerald (Paul Weller), that shield him from the hostility outside. George has experienced discrimination, but the danger he encounters during the Blitz is a whole new level. You can catch Blitz on November 22nd.
Bread & Roses
Stream on November 22
Titled “Bread & Roses“, this compelling documentary was co-produced by Jennifer Lawrence and Malala Yousafzai, and directed by Sahra Mani. It chronicles the resilient struggles of several women in Kabul, who strive to preserve their independence following the Taliban’s takeover in 2021. The departure of American forces from Afghanistan allowed the Taliban’s influence to expand. Consequently, women have been deprived of many basic rights such as pursuing education beyond the sixth grade, working outside the home, and moving freely in public without male companionship. In essence, they have become invisible.
In this documentary, I find a compelling narrative that delves into larger national struggles, centering around three extraordinary women whose lives are drastically altered under Taliban rule. Previously, Sharifa held a role in the government, but now she’s confined to a monotonous indoor existence. Zahra, once a practicing dentist, is no longer permitted to work and instead uses her former clinic as a platform to rally fellow activists, an act that eventually lands her in custody. Lastly, Taranom, a well-known activist, faces swift exile and becomes a refugee in Pakistan. Filled with gut-wrenching scenes, Bread & Roses serves as a powerful call to action for everyone, encouraging us all to champion basic human rights globally. Catch Bread & Roses streaming on Nov. 22.
