The residence that was once owned by the late Dennis Wilson, a previous band member of the Beach Boys who also had ties with the Manson family, managed to survive following its encounter with the fires in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles.

14400 Sunset Boulevard, a location frequented by cult leader Charles Manson and his followers in the late 1960s, appears to have survived the destructive wildfires that forced the evacuation of approximately 180,000 people in Southern California.

During the late 1960s, Charles Manson and his cult followers would often gather at 14400 Sunset Boulevard. Remarkably, this location has managed to withstand the devastating wildfires that have led to the evacuation of over 180,000 people in Southern California.

In 1968, it’s said that drummer Wilson developed a keen interest in Manson and his followers, which eventually led to a friendship between the two. That summer, several women (who were part of the Manson family) resided at his house, causing him to spend approximately $100,000 (equivalent to around $900,000 in 2025).

In late 1968, Wilson shared with the Record Mirror magazine: “Upon meeting [Manson], I discovered he had remarkable musical concepts. We’re collaborating now. He might appear simple at times, but I appreciate his method and have gained insights from him.

At a previous point, he confided in reporters that he was residing with 17 women. When questioned about providing for them, Wilson stated: “No, on the contrary, they’re the ones helping me. I had luxury items like a Rolls-Royce and Ferrari, multiple homes. I realized this, donated around half to two thirds of my wealth. Now, I live in a compact room, with just one candle, and I am content, rediscovering myself.

It’s said that it was at Wilson’s house gatherings where Charles Manson, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 83, had the opportunity to mingle with Hollywood stars. In the summer of 1968, Manson made several recordings at Brian Wilson’s home studio, but these recordings have never been publicly released. The Beach Boys recorded one of Manson’s songs titled “Cease to Exist” (later known as “Never Learn Not to Love”) and released it as the B-side of their single “Bluebirds over the Mountain” in December 1968. However, Manson did not participate in the actual recording process himself.

As Manson’s behavior grew increasingly alarming, Wilson chose to separate from the family and vacate the residence at approximately the same period. After the 1969 brutal slayings of Sharon Tate (a pregnant actress), Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, and Wojciech Frykowski, reports claimed that Wilson was warned by the group and decided to provide Manson with funds. Despite Manson being indicted for multiple murder charges and conspiracy to commit murder, Wilson opted not to testify against him in court.

In the 1978 biography titled “The Beach Boys and the California Myth“, Brian Wilson admitted his connection with Charles Manson and expressed, “I understand why [he] committed those actions. One day, I’ll reveal everything to the world. I’ll write a book and clarify why he did it.” Tragically, in 1983, Brian Wilson passed away by drowning at Marina Del Rey.

On a fateful Tuesday, wildfires ignited by the Santa Ana winds began in the Palisades region and swiftly moved towards Malibu and Santa Monica during the night. At the time of reporting, these fires have claimed at least 24 lives. The Palisades Fire is currently 17% under control, while the Eaton Fire has reached a containment level of 35%. However, officials caution that conditions will be exceptionally hazardous on the upcoming Tuesday.
