Anu Aggarwal shot to fame immediately with her first appearance in the movie “Aashiqui” released in 1990. The film’s success prompted producers to create a sequel, titled “Aashiqui 2,” which came out in 2012 and starred Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur. When asked about the potential third installment of her musical-drama, she confidently expressed her thoughts like a leader.
In an exclusive chat with TopMob, Anu Aggarwal opened up about various aspects of her personal and work life. When queried if she had watched Aashiqui 2, she promptly confessed, “Yes, I did watch it.
When asked for her opinion, the actress replied, “I’d say it was good, though I wouldn’t want to be too hasty in making a judgment about it.
In my perspective, I emphasized the distinct timelines of the two movies’ releases. At the time, the initial film didn’t seem destined for success since Mahesh Bhatt was recognized primarily as an art-house filmmaker.

She mentioned, “In essence, when I agreed to do ‘Aashiqui’, it wasn’t necessarily anticipated to become a blockbuster movie at the time. The film was made by a director who wasn’t primarily known for commercial films then. Mahesh Bhatt was an art film director, so it wasn’t a film expected to be the next major commercial success.
Reflecting on it now, I can honestly say that the film was a labor of love, an artistic masterpiece if you will. As I recall those days, I realize things have changed and so have I – it’s almost as if I’ve embarked upon a new life, a second chance, and yet somehow, this is all still part of my journey. At the moment, I am 30 in this new phase of my existence, or perhaps I was 26 then. That’s how my mind processes time, I suppose.
Besides this, she also recognized the evolution of the audience, commenting that they have grown more discerning over time. She pointed out that today’s audience values content more than a celebrity’s persona. This observation struck her as intriguing, prompting her to feel motivated to create something meaningful. Later, she expressed appreciation for the films RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, as well as Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.
