EXCLUSIVE: John Abraham opens up about ‘conscious’ decision of not doing OTT project; ‘May be a little difficult…’

Recently, John Abraham graced the big screen in The Diplomat, and he’s got more thrilling cinematic ventures coming up. Interestingly, this actor hasn’t dipped his toes into the Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming world just yet. In an exclusive chat with TopMob, John shared his deliberate choice to avoid OTT projects. He candidly admitted that it would be challenging for him to watch his movies on digital platforms.

During an interview with TopMob, John Abraham was queried about whether his choice to avoid any OTT projects so far was intentional. He replied, “Indeed, it’s an intentional decision, though I don’t rule out anything permanently.

In simpler terms, the actor from Pathaan shared that there might be movies that are more suitable for streaming platforms than theaters. Sometimes it’s hard to decide which is best, and sometimes producers make this decision based on commercial reasons. As an actor in the film, you may not have a choice but to follow along.

Speaking freely, John expressed his preference by saying, “When asked directly, I prefer the large cinema screens; it’s something I enjoy if given the chance. As for my films appearing on online streaming platforms (OTT), while it might be hard for me to accept at first, remember, I never rule anything out completely.

In the course of their chat, John Abraham commended director Shivam Nair for his exceptional work in the OTT platform. He expressed, “I find the content on OTT platforms to be outstanding. Notably, Shivam has created Special Ops and Mukhbir, which are OTT series. If you examine Mukhbir and Special Ops, he’s incredibly talented, and take a look at the actors he has collaborated with.

John noted, ‘It’s an honor for me to collaborate with a director who’s previously worked with excellent performers. My aim, however, remains being part of a film that eventually graces the big screen; that’s where I envision myself.’
