As an ardent fan of the glamorous world of Bollywood, I must say that Neelam Kothari’s journey is nothing short of captivating! Her comeback was as fabulous as her persona, and her appearance on Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives was a breath of fresh air.
Following a hiatus from acting, Neelam Kothari re-entered the entertainment industry in 2000 with the hit reality TV show, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. The show’s success led to a surge of acting offers for her. However, she has recently addressed rumors about her relationship with actor Govinda. In an interview, she explained that these rumors were simply part of the game and there was no need to clarify the gossip.
During a chat with Hauterfly, Neelam Kothari, most recently featured in the show Fabulous Lives, was asked about the whispers surrounding her and Govinda’s romantic connection.
Speaking candidly about the topic at hand, I, as a devoted fan, can’t help but echo her sentiments: “I believe that romantic links were an integral aspect of this grand game. Unfortunately, there was no one to set the record straight.” Additionally, she pointed out that often, people would just publish whatever they felt like without clarification.
In addition, previously, celebrities were apprehensive about the media as the power lay in the written word and it was simply part of the industry. As the actress explained, if you starred in more than a couple of films, it was generally assumed… (that you were dating). To provide some context, speculations about their purported relationship began when the Coolie No. 1 actor mentioned to Stardust in an old interview that he wanted to marry Kothari.
In a 1990 interview, Govinda expressed admiration for Neelam and wished for Sunita, who is now his wife, to emulate Neelam’s qualities. He also admitted to having urged Sunita to end their relationship at the time, breaking off their engagement. “I wanted to marry her,” he said, “and I don’t believe there’s anything inherently wrong with that.
Simultaneously, in their professional lives, Neelam and Govinda often collaborated on films such as Ghar Mein Ram Gali Mein Shyam, Billoo Baadshah, Sindoor, Khudgarz, and numerous others.
Currently in her professional life, Kothari has been collaborating with Maheep Kapoor, Bhavana Pandey, Seema Kiran Sajdeh, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Shalini Passi, and Kalyani Saha Chawla on the latest installment of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives.
