As a long-time Call of Duty fan, I can’t help but be excited about Black Ops 6, especially after the disappointing performance of Modern Warfare 3 and the recent success of Black Ops Cold War. However, my excitement is tinged with a healthy dose of skepticism and hope for improvement based on my past experiences.
As a devoted gamer, I was looking forward to a brief hiatus from Call of Duty (CoD) after Infinity Ward announced Modern Warfare 2. However, Sledgehammer Games surprised us all with Modern Warfare 3, and the CoD series hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. Some gamers are voicing their concerns about the franchise, stating that it has veered off course with excessive pop-culture crossovers. But this is only the beginning of the issue.
Treyarch is set to return as the developer for Black Oops 6 in 2024, following the success of Black Ops Cold War in 2020 which is widely regarded as the best Call of Duty game in recent years. Fans are eagerly anticipating that Treyarch will be able to live up to expectations once again. With Black Ops 6 being marketed as a new take on the series, fans have a list of desires for it to thrive.

On Reddit, u/ultraopulent shared a detailed list of desires for Black Oops 6. The standard requests were included, such as better servers and the RICOCHET anti-cheat system. Additionally, they called for stable lobbies that don’t disband and significant improvements to Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) and Error Estimation Model Matchmaking (EOMM). Given the problems MW3 faced with matchmaking, these enhancements are essential.
The Reddit user continues to express their desires for Black Ops 6, emphasizing the need for authentic character skins, in-game communication, and a two-year development period. Although it’s intriguing to imagine an expansive Black Oops 6 over two years, there are rumors that Call of Duty 2025 may be a modern sequel to Black Ops 2 with a futuristic setting.
Participants joined the discussion and shared their views on how Black Ops 6 can meet the high expectations set for it. One person quipped, “All we need is no more ridiculous costumes. That’s our only request,” while another suggested, “Scrap SBMM – doing so would make this game iconic.” As for us, we long for Treyarch to resurrect Zombies.
I eagerly anticipate the comeback of “Blackout” with its enhanced features and an abundance of weapons and attachments at my disposal. One fan expressed this longing, saying, “Blackout is set to return, in all its improved splendor, with guns and accessories scattered around for me to put together or take apart at will.” Another light-heartedly commented, “It’s about time we have a playable game that isn’t plagued by issues on launch.” These sentiments reflect the frustration many players currently feel.
Treyarch is known to keep an eye on player feedback, but creating a wishlist for desired changes might result in disappointment for many. The team cannot possibly fulfill every request. However, following the less-than-impressive reception of Modern Warfare 3’s reviews, we can only hope that valuable lessons have been taken from these criticisms.
