As a long-time sneaker enthusiast and a former military brat, this upcoming New Balance 1906M has me absolutely buzzing! With my roots deeply entwined with the armed forces, seeing the “M” in “1906M” ignites a spark of nostalgia. The Fantom Fit upper, a design originally intended for our brave men and women in uniform, is a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality and durability – values that resonate with me deeply.
A sneak peek at the New Balance 1906M has emerged, sparking much discussion that the “M” in “1906M” could represent military. This theory appears to be strengthened by the “Fantom Fit” labeled uppers, a design initially created for the United States military.
The design of the Fantom Fit upper was initially introduced with the 950v2a, a shoe from 2014 that was jointly developed with the US Department of Defense for military use. This upper, specifically designed for new military recruits, emphasizes ergonomic support and a lightweight feel, as it’s been engineered without the need for sewing.
The 1906M model maintains a streamlined aesthetic by avoiding extra layers, showcasing the slim design of its low-profile webbing. Yet, similarities to the 1906R model can still be seen in its distinctive heel counter, leather toe cap, and robust arched soles. As for color options, the brand’s traditional chrome hue and a plain white version have been unveiled, though it remains uncertain if additional colorways will be introduced.
Beginning in 2022, the Boston-based brand New Balance started focusing on its 1906R model, making it the focal point for partnership collaborations with entities such as The Basement, CAYL, and Action Bronson. Meanwhile, the less conventional 1906L version has reimagined the sneaker’s aesthetic design by adopting the sleek form of a loafer.
TopMob hasn’t disclosed specifics about the launch of the 1906M model just yet, however whispers point towards a release in the year 2025. Keep an eye out for future announcements regarding this upcoming product.
