As a hardcore gamer and sci-fi enthusiast, I’ve been following the development of FX’s long-awaited “Alien” series with bated breath. The news that principal filming has finally wrapped up after a grueling five-year production process is both exhilarating and relieving.
FX‘s long-gestating Alien series has finished principal filming, creator Noah Hawley says.
I’m absolutely thrilled and can barely contain my excitement as I’m currently in the midst of post-production for our latest project, as Hawley shared this news with The Hollywood Reporter on the very same day that our other FX series, Fargo, received a stunning 15 Emmy nominations. Editing is underway, and the visual effects team is working diligently, but I’m feeling incredibly proud of the footage we managed to capture during production.
“Should there be a TV show set in the universe of ‘Alien’ that people desire, I aim to deliver an exceptional experience.”
The production of Alien was underway in Thailand when a 2023 actors’ strike forced a halt (the scripts had already been completed before the writers went on strike in May). Filming resumed following an agreement between management and the unions on new contracts; the show is expected to air next year.
As a long-time fan of Ridley Scott’s iconic “Alien” franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming FX series. Five long years have passed since John Landgraf first announced the project back in 2020, and yet the wait has been worth it.
The cast features Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, and Adrian Edmondson.
Hawley has been involved since the beginning, and according to him, it’s astonishing that it took three to five years to produce the first season of “Alien.” (THR is The Hollywood Reporter)
He expressed his belief that he raised the stakes significantly for this popular horror-action franchise in cinema, aiming to delve deeper into character development and themes instead of just crafting a terrifying escape-from-death story. His satisfaction with the final product is evident from the actors’ impressive performances and the artisans’ work. He eagerly anticipates the audience’s reaction.
