As an avid outdoor enthusiast with a penchant for capturing unforgettable moments, I am beyond thrilled about the latest offerings from GoPro! The HERO13 Black and HERO are truly game-changers, catering to different budgets while delivering top-tier performance.
GoPro unveiled their newest offerings – the HERO13 Black and standard HERO, an innovative pair of action cameras designed to suit various budgets.
The top model from this brand returns for its 13th version, called the HERO13 Black. This device continues to uphold the Emmy-winning legacy of the series by offering GoPro’s finest action camera yet. The HERO13 Black is equipped to record high-quality 5.3K video at 60 frames per second, ensuring sharp visuals in any scenario. Moreover, it excels in slow-motion video capture, as it can record 400 frames per second in 720p quality. GoPro has termed this “13x Burst Slo-Mo”. Users also have the option to capture slower motion videos at higher qualities, with a maximum of 360 frames per second possible at 900p and 120 frames per second at the full 5.3K resolution.
Regarding the video quality, the new HERO13 Black model is designed to record footage using the hybrid log-gamma (HLG) format, which is a preferred choice for both professionals and enthusiasts. This feature offers greater control in post-production, enabling users to manipulate their action footage more effectively. The battery life on the latest HERO13 Black has been enhanced, boasting a 10% increase in capacity compared to its predecessor, ensuring consistent performance across all weather conditions. Furthermore, the device now supports WiFi 6 technology for up to 40% faster content transfer speeds. The new model also incorporates Magnetic Latch Mounting for effortless use and seamless accessory switching, boasts improved GPS functionality, and is compatible with swappable lenses and lens accessories from GoPro’s ‘HB-Series.’ This lineup includes an ultra-wide, anamorphic, and macro lens, as well as four different neutral density (ND) filters.
Introducing alongside our latest flagship model is the HERO, a compact action camera that GoPro refers to as “the smallest, lightest, easiest to use, and most affordable 4K camera ever with a screen.” The HERO weighs only 86 grams, which is nearly half the weight of its larger sibling, the HERO13 Black (a reduction of 46%). It’s waterproof up to a depth of 5 meters (16 feet) and boasts both touch screen controls and a single button for recording activation.
The HERO device is capable of recording high-definition slow-motion video at twice the normal speed in stunning 4K quality, and also takes 12-megapixel still images. Despite its compact size, the battery has been efficiently designed to provide power for up to 100 minutes between charges.
You can grab the GoPro HERO13 Black ($399) and HERO ($199) now via the brand’s website.
