Irish television host Graham Norton will star in the upcoming series of Doctor Who.

In the sixth episode of season 2 (or season 15), the “Eurovision‘s Monarch,” a title earned from his lengthy commentating stint at the eccentric European singing competition, will make an appearance. He will be part of a larger cast, contributing to an episode that draws inspiration from Eurovision.

On Friday, the BBC announced that Graham Norton is switching his large red seat for a blue telephone booth role in ‘Doctor Who’ season two!” (The phrase “big red chair” was replaced with “large red seat”, and “blue box” was clarified as “blue telephone booth”.)

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement as our beloved Eurovision monarch steps onto the stage for the upcoming series! He’s not just performing, but joining forces with an extraordinary ensemble cast, ready to dazzle us in the 803rd Intergalactic Song Contest.

Russell T. Davies’ series is coming back to the BBC and Disney+ on April 12. It stars Ncuti Gatwa as the lead Time Lord, while Varada Sethu portrays nurse Belinda Chandra. Together, they embark on a mission to bring Belinda back to Earth, with Millie Gibson likely to reprise her role as Ruby Sunday.

Recently, Sethu had a chat with The Hollywood Reporter about taking on the role of companion to Gatwa’s doctor, and sharing some insights about upcoming developments for the series’ enthusiasts.

Sethu stated that “[Belinda] keeps him in check,” implying that she corrects him when his manners falter. He’s an alien who’s lived for a long time, much of which was marked by loss and solitude. I believe he’s accustomed to being treated with admiration or reverence.

Belinda doesn’t engage in such actions,” she clarifies. “Instead, she views him as a friend. To her, he’s a collaborator in navigating this situation. Their bond is more equitable and healthier, as it stands.
