As a seasoned cinephile with decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that Guy Ritchie’s latest project, “The Associate,” is shaping up to be quite the spectacle. The cast boasting heavyweights like Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren is nothing short of a dream lineup for any film enthusiast.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t help but express my excitement for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming gangster series on Paramount+ titled “The Associate“. With an outstanding cast featuring the likes of Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, this production promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
In recent developments, last week, a message from Brian Dowling, CEO of Helix 3D, reached the workers. He informed them that their accumulated unpaid wages amounting to over $315,000 (approximately £250,000) would not be distributed in 2024. With Christmas holidays approaching, this news was a severe disappointment for 50 skilled builders. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Tom Hardy learned about it and promptly offered to cover everyone’s wages. Fearing potential negative publicity, Paramount stepped in to handle the payments, ensuring that these hardworking individuals will indeed enjoy a merry Christmas. Unfortunately, during this production, some individuals decided to steal, committing robberies in broad daylight. Further details about this incident are provided below.
The security personnel became agitated, as they had been victimized in full view of the public during daytime hours. It was undeniably humiliating and an expensive oversight. The equipment used in movies is not inexpensive.
It is commendable that Paramount publicly expressed their disapproval of the situation and took measures to safeguard any worker involved in their productions. According to The Daily Mail, a source from Paramount stated they were “shocked” by the circumstances and had arrangements to ensure workers received their wages. In a letter obtained by the publication, Chris Hudson, an organizing official for the broadcasting union Bectu, said:
“Our members should be shown honor and consideration, promptly paid for their efforts. It’s utterly unjust that they find themselves in a financially precarious situation, especially as Christmas approaches. With the holiday season fast approaching, our members are understandably anxious, worried they won’t be able to meet basic needs.
Thieves Stole More Than $1.2 Million of Equipment from ‘The Associate’ Production
Interestingly enough, the filming location for our crime-focused series has experienced two robberies in a week’s time, with over £1 million worth of camera equipment being taken. What makes this particularly troubling is that the perpetrators used a Toyota Prius to carry out these thefts, as a crew member shared with The Sun.
A man closed down the roads for filming, and there were plenty of security personnel and crew around. Suddenly, two individuals appeared in a Prius, requesting directions. This interaction caused a disturbance just as another person snatched a bag of camera equipment that was by the roadside. They swiftly left in their car. The security guards became agitated as they had essentially been robbed in full view during daytime. It was quite humiliating and an expensive blunder, for the equipment used in films isn’t inexpensive.
The plot synopsis for The Associate reads as follows: “An electrifying, new global crime series centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe, and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs […] Hardy will play Harry Da Souza, a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family, while Brosnan will play Conrad Harrigan, the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works. Mirren will play Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife and the Harrigan family matriarch.”
Based on the overwhelming success of Guy Ritchie’s latest TV show, “The Gentlemen,” it seems likely that “The Associate” will also be a big hit for Paramount. They can certainly look forward to recovering the stolen million with such promising prospects. Keep an eye out for future updates about this exciting series.
