Exciting News: I was thrilled when HAL STUDIOS® unveiled a sneak peek at their upcoming ASICS project in January, showcasing three GEL-KAYANO 20 prototypes. Now, we’re on the brink of the release of this strap-adorned design, coming in a trio of off-white, black, and brown hues. Drawing inspiration from Space Age designs, its retrofuturistic aesthetic is poised to make a unique mark on today’s sneaker scene. Keep your eyes peeled for these pairs to become available exclusively through HAL STUDIOS® on October 29.

In 2023, ASICS continued its winning streak in footwear design, thanks in part to the collaboration with Australian label HAL STUDIOS® and their trio of GEL-1130 colorways that were introduced two years ago and completed in 2023. Following a brief stint with adidas for a limited edition VELOSAMBAs, it appears HAL STUDIOS® is reconnecting with ASICS, showcasing a new shoe design, which has been unveiled by the creative director of HAL STUDIOS®, John Bouquet.
Drawing from the single 2024 prototypes, HAL STUDIOS® has collaborated with ASICS to create a fresh GEL-inspired design that upholds the brand’s core identity. This sleek running shoe departs from conventional lacing methods by incorporating a three-strap Velcro retention system instead. The color options include an all-black pair, a white one with black accents, and a gray model adorned with brown overlays and vibrant orange details.
Currently, there is no information available about the upcoming collaboration between HAL STUDIOS® and ASICS on their latest project. Since the samples are still being created, it’s possible that we won’t see this release until later in the year, assuming both parties agree to move forward with production. Keep an eye out for further developments throughout the rest of the year.
