HBO Takes ‘Bottoms’ Star Rachel Sennott’s Comedy to Series

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for well-crafted narratives, I can hardly contain my excitement over HBO’s latest venture into comedy! With Rachel Sennott at the helm, this untitled series promises to deliver a rollercoaster ride of laughter and heartfelt moments.

HBO is moving ahead with a comedy series from Bottoms and Shiva Baby star Rachel Sennott.

A high-end cable network has acquired an as-yet-unnamed production, which is both created by and stars Sennott. This series explores a circle of friends who have grown apart but come back together, dealing with how time, ambition, and fresh romantic entanglements have reshaped them.

Sennott played a key role in creating and overseeing the show’s pilot by writing it and serving as an executive producer, alongside Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers (previously from Barry) and director Lorene Scafaria, who has also worked on Succession in a similar capacity.

Rachel is both amusing and captivating. In the company of Lorene and Emma, she masterfully portrays the humor and the aesthetic appeal that arises when friendships intersect with our carefully planned lives,” Amy Gravitt, HBO and Max comedy programming’s executive vice president, remarked. “We are delighted to carry on working alongside this gifted group and this exceptional cast.

Sennott expressed his heartfelt appreciation towards Amy and HBO for providing him the chance to produce this series and the exceptional crew who have contributed to its creation. He also mentioned that he will be revealing the title shortly, he guarantees it!

In addition to Sennott, the lineup for this show also includes Odessa A’zion (known from “Ghosts” and 2022’s “Hellraiser”), Jordan Firstman (“English Teacher”), Miles Robbins (“Blockers”), and True Whitaker (“Godfather of Harlem”).

Upcoming, Sennott will appear in Jason Reitman’s film titled “Saturday Night“, which recounts the events preceding the first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975. Her character is Rosie Shuster, a writer on the show and the wife of Lorne Michaels. Besides acting, she has also co-written “Bottoms“. Other credits include roles in HBO’s “The Idol“, “Bodies Bodies Bodies”, and ABC’s 2021 comedy series “Call Your Mother“.
