Viewers were taken aback as the initial season of The Last of Us managed to portray incidents from the entire first game. However, a change in approach might occur for the second season of TLOU.
A fresh sneak peek of the eagerly awaited series has been released, potentially offering clues about the show’s intended conclusion by its second season.
New Trailer for The Last of Us Season 2
HBO unveiled a teaser for season 2 of “The Last of Us,” offering glimpses into key storylines. Notably, it appears that a new adversary, named Abby and portrayed by actress Kaitlyn Dever, will make an entrance.
In the video game “The Last of Us Part II,” Abby’s background is delved deeper into during the second half. However, it seems that the upcoming television series will focus more on advancing Abby’s story, particularly on how the events of the first season impacted her directly.
In terms of Ellie, it’s logical that she appears more frequently in the trailer for Part II since she is the primary character. This is because she assumes the role of the main protagonist in the story.
Indeed, the bond between Joel and Ellie played a pivotal role in the initial game, and while Joel’s narrative role diminishes in the sequel, their relationship remains a significant pillar that propels the story forward.
Where is the Season Going to End?
Ever since the initial run of the show, viewers have been pondering how extensively the series might delve into Part II. Some theories even propose that the season could reenact each scene from the game or introduce additional interludes and culminate with a dramatic character demise.
The trailer indicates that the series intends to portray Ellie’s relentless journey across Seattle in its entirety. Additionally, it hints at providing a deeper understanding of Abby’s past, aiming to create empathy for her from the outset of the series.
As a fan, I found that in the initial half of The Last of Us Part II, Abby was quite enigmatic compared to the game itself. Later on, however, I was compelled to delve into her past, experiencing a twisted tale of empathy and manipulation skillfully crafted by director Neil Druckmann.
Based on current predictions, it seems likely that the second season will conclude when Ellie and Abby’s paths intersect in Seattle, as this is where Abby’s primary backstory unfolds.
While parts of her tale are hinted at in the trailer, she possesses an individual narrative that’s separate, encompassing her experiences with the WLF and encounters with uncast Seraphites—characters who may or may not appear in this season’s installment.
The second season of The Last of Us is expected to premiere on Max this April.
