As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that Black Myth: Wukong has captured my attention like no other game in recent memory. The intricate blend of action RPG and strategic combat keeps me on the edge of my seat, constantly strategizing and adapting to the ever-changing landscape.
In Black Myth: Wukong, players advance by leveraging in-game enhancements. To reap the most rewards from these improvements, they must be unlocked and skillfully utilized. As the game progresses, opponents grow stronger, requiring increasingly potent resources to vanquish them.
As a seasoned gamer, I’ve come across these intriguing energy orbs – the remnants of vanquished foes, particularly those Legendary Bosses. These orbs, known as Spirits, hold a unique power. By absorbing them, you can mimic the combat form of your fallen adversaries and boost your base stats!
How to get more Spirits

Here is everything you need to know about getting Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong:
Absorbing spirits
In the game Black Myth: Wukong, upon defeating an adversary, they’ll leave behind orbs of vibrant energy, which are actually spirits. You can absorb these spirits using a gourd. The initial encounter with one such Spirit (following your battle against the Wandering Wight) will be signaled by a notification.
“Cannot absorb Spirits without guidance”
This notification pops up as you haven’t encountered the appropriate Non-Player Character (NPC) yet. After interacting with the elderly man and obtaining the Holy Melon, you are free to revisit any Shrine and collect the spirit essence that remains behind.
Finding the old man
Once Lingxuzi the colossal wolf has been vanquished, proceed on your voyage towards the Bamboo Grove Snake Trail Shrine. Upon reaching the stone stairway, ascend it and take a right at the summit. It is here where you’ll encounter the Old Wise Man. After conversing with this venerable sage, your gourd will be enhanced to become the Blessed Gourd.
Absorbing non-pure Spirit
In Chapter 3, you’ll encounter another formidable foe named Gore-Eye Daoist, a non-pure boss that upon defeat, leaves behind a strong Non-pure spirit – one of the game’s most potent entities. Keep an eye out for this menacing creature near Thunderclap Temple, where he safeguards a peaceful Meditation area. Be cautious to dodge his powerful attacks, as they can inflict significant damage.
Upgrading spirit skills
Once you’ve vanquished Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang in the Swamp region, you can harness his spirit using your freshly obtained Blessed Gourd. This action not only grants a new ability called Spirit Skills, but also provides the effects of two such skills when activated.
To Improve Your Spirit Abilities, Head to Any Shrine and Opt for ‘Nurturing Spirits’ via the Personal Growth Menu. You’ll find a comprehensive list of all the Spirits you’ve gathered here. Each Spirit consists of six levels, and enhancing them will maximize their potential. To level up your Spirits, gather Will as required.
But, enhancing the Spirits to their full potential requires resources like the Blood of the Iron Bull and Knot of Voidness.
