Hulu Just Ordered More Episodes of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

As a seasoned movie buff with a soft spot for reality TV and a keen interest in the human condition, I must admit that I was hooked from the very first episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The series, much like a captivating novel you can’t put down, has managed to enthrall me with its raw, unfiltered glimpse into the lives of these fascinating women.

Can #MomTok survive another season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives? We’re going to find out. Hulu’s hit reality TV series has been renewed for a second season, as TMZ has reported that the streamer has picked up the unscripted show for 20 more episodes. How exactly the new season will be distributed remains to be seen (the first season was just 8 episodes), but we do know the next season will pop up in early Spring 2025. Confirming the eagerly-awaited renewal, executive VP of unscripted and alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television, Rob Mills, shared:

A thought-provoking query emerged during the first season, asking whether MomTok could withstand the challenge. Without a doubt, it can! Prepare your refreshing beverages for Spring 2025.

The revealing docuseries titled “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” made its debut on September 6, marking a historical milestone as the initial unscripted series from Hulu to appear on Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Notably, its first episode was Hulu’s most-viewed unscripted season premiere for the year.

This reality show, based in Utah, focuses on a circle of Mormon women – Taylor Frankie Paul, Demi Engemann, Jen Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Whitney Leavitt, Layla Taylor, Mayci Neeley, and Mikayla Matthews – who are also prominent on social media under the name “MomTok.” The show revolves around a scandal that surfaced in 2021 when Paul disclosed her and her former husband’s involvement in soft-swinging with other Mormon couples. The series delves into their friendships (and strained relationships), their lives within the Mormon community, and the hurdles they encounter as they juggle their personal and professional lives on and off social media.

Who Will Return for Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives?

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but wonder if my favorite ladies are coming back for another round. If they do, I’m eager to unravel some of the season’s nail-biting mysteries: Will Paul and Dakota survive their ordeal? Has there been any improvement in Affleck’s relationship with her husband, Zac (and are they kin to Ben Affleck)? And did Leavitt truly abandon MomTok for good? With the confirmation of a second season, Leavitt – now one of reality TV’s most contentious characters and often labeled the first season’s antagonist – sat down with Kaitlyn Bristowe on Off the Vine to share her hopes for the upcoming season.

As a movie lover, I expressed, “I’m not keen on playing a strategic move here. If there seems to be tension between women – and I believe there is – I’d prefer to engage in a heartfelt conversation to understand the root cause of it.

Leavitt expresses a desire to be less personally affected in the upcoming season, and she also addressed certain actions from her first season that were frequently criticized by her fellow cast members and online audiences.

At that point in my life, I found myself in such a whirlwind of circumstances that when I look back on it, I can understand why I responded the way I did, given [X, Y, and Z]. It’s essential to remember that our reactions to life events are often influenced by factors that may not always be immediately apparent. Regrettably, there were aspects of the situation that weren’t fully disclosed at the time, which might not justify my decisions or reactions entirely.

You can stream all eight episodes from Season 1 of “ The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” on Hulu. At the moment, production for Season 2 is underway.
