‘I Don’t Know Why They Didn’t Put Me In It’: Ant-Man Vet Talks Being Left Out Of Quantumania And Reveals One Thing She Wanted For Her Character

The Marvel Universe consistently excites fans with a continuous flow of fresh material, both in cinemas and on Disney+. Over the years, viewers who watched the Marvel films sequentially have witnessed numerous characters joining and departing, including some beloved ones like Ant-Man’s Judy Greer. In an interview, Greer discusses her absence from Quantumania and shares one desire she had for her character.

Noted actress Judy Greer portrayed Scott Lang’s former partner Maggie in the initial two Ant-Man films. Her character was conspicuously absent from the third installment, yet fans remain hopeful for her potential reappearance in future Marvel productions. In an interview with The Direct, the star known for Jawbreaker discussed her time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including providing a voice role in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. She remarked:

In the last “Guardians” film, I was the War Hog character. However, my name was apparently a war pig in that movie. In the first two “Ant-Man” films, I didn’t appear. Despite not knowing why, I wasn’t included in “Quantumania.” Yet, I went to watch it at the cinema. I can’t explain why they didn’t include me, but I truly wished I had been. It looked like a blast!

To put it simply, just like you, I enjoyed having Judy Greer in the first two Ant-Man films as Maggie. Her absence was noticeable in Paul Rudd’s third film, given that their daughter Cassie stepped into a superhero role. Consequently, I can’t help but suspect that the underperformance of Quantumania at the box office might have something to do with her absence.

In Ant-Man 3, the main characters spent a lot of their time in the Quantum Realm, leaving many other roles on the editing table. This includes Maggie, Paxton played by Bobby Cannavale, and Scott’s friends from X-Con Security. During the same interview, Greer mentioned one request she frequently made while working on the franchise – a desire she often shared.

As a die-hard film fan, I found myself yearning for director Peyton Reed to bestow upon me a superpower. “Oh, please, could I just run into someone on the street and receive a superpower? Pretty please?” I’d ask with all my heart, but he and Paul [Rudd] would only chuckle in response, never granting my wish.

It’s one thing for Maggie to be part of a superhero franchise, but having real superpowers is a whole different ball game. If Maggie were to develop enhanced abilities, it would come as quite a surprise since she hasn’t been actively involved in Ant-Man’s adventures. However, given that their daughter Cassie has gotten her own Quantumania suit and joined the action, it’s not entirely implausible.

At the moment, it’s undecided whether a fourth Ant-Man film will be made, or if Judy Greer will reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While fans speculate that Paul Rudd may reprise his role as Scott Lang in either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, no official confirmation has been given at this time.

Upcoming in theaters on Valentine’s Day (February 14th) is the new Marvel film titled “Captain America: A Daring New Journey“. In the meantime, take a look at the scheduled release dates for movies in 2025.
