As a die-hard Marvel fan who has spent countless hours poring over every detail of the MCU, I must say that “Agatha All Along” was a delightful surprise. Kathryn Hahn’s performance as Agatha Harkness was nothing short of brilliant, and it was fascinating to see her character evolve throughout the series.
Spoilers ahead for Agatha All Along.
In simple terms, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a habit of growing by adding fresh tales, available in cinemas and on Disney+. The most recent series to hit the streaming platform is called “Agatha All Along“, having just concluded its two-episode finale. I found the ending quite enjoyable, but it left me curious about Joe Locke’s character, Billy Maximoff.
In the series Agatha All Along, Kathryn Hahn’s title character takes center stage alongside MCU newcomer and rising star Joe Locke from Heartstopper. Previously, it was revealed that Teen was actually Billy Maximoff. However, in Episode 8, he appeared to be at the peak of his powers as Wiccan, even donning a costume reminiscent of the comic book version. This costume left me quite puzzled; I’m curious about where exactly it originated from.
Instead of being the familiar Billy we adored from WandaVision, Joe Locke’s character is actually a deceased individual named William, whose body was inhabited by Wanda’s son to survive. This situation caused some difficulties in controlling his abilities when he wasn’t enraged. However, these issues were resolved during the two-part finale of Agatha All Along, where he forcefully removed Aubrey Plaza’s Death/Rio from his path, descended towards Agatha, and subsequently transferred some of his power to him.
As a fan, I can let go of minor inconsistencies now and then, but when it comes to Billy suddenly donning a complete superhero costume without any prior explanation, I must admit it left me perplexed. The outfit looked fantastic on him, Locke, but the backstory behind this unexpected wardrobe change remains a mystery yet to be unraveled.
It could be that Billy’s unique abilities and innate chaos magic might have been responsible for designing this fresh new suit, similar to how Wanda transformed into the Scarlet Witch in the finale of “WandaVision.” However, unlike Wanda, we didn’t witness Billy’s transformation into Wiccan. Furthermore, the suit is neither shown nor mentioned during the final episode of “Agatha All Along.
At the conclusion of the series, Agatha appeared as a spectral entity, joining forces with Billy to search for his sibling Tommy. This alliance could significantly impact future Marvel films, particularly if the storyline of Ms. Marvel further develops the Young Avengers. It’s evident that although her character died in the second-to-last episode of Agatha All Along, Kathryn Hahn’s title character is not completely gone from the picture.
Despite numerous rumors and fan speculations, Elizabeth Olsen’s character Wanda Maximoff did not make an appearance in “Agatha All Along”. The finale’s absence of a post-credits scene indicated that it was focused on a more self-contained story, leaving the future shrouded in mystery. However, with fans yearning for the return of the Scarlet Witch, their calls for her comeback might just become even more insistent now.
As a gamer, I’ve got some exciting news for fellow Marvel fans! Agatha All Along is now available for streaming in its entirety on Disney+, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to make a grand return to theaters with Captain America: Brave New World, hitting screens on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
