‘I Still Don’t Know The True Story’: Kevin Feige Tells Us About Ryan Reynolds’ Legendary Leaked Deadpool Test Footage, And Why He’s ‘Glad They Did It’

As a die-hard comic book fan and longtime follower of Deadpool’s journey from page to screen, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe and admiration for the unexpected turn of events that led us to the release of “Deadpool” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For years, fans like myself have been clamoring for a faithful adaptation of the Merc with a Mouth, and it seemed like our dreams would remain just that – dreams.

Today, “Deadpool and Wolverine” hits theaters, marking Deadpool’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the most successful film franchise globally. This is quite a feat, considering there was a point when a “Deadpool” movie seemed unlikely. If not for the leaked test footage, we wouldn’t be discussing this today. Even the Marvel Studios head is still puzzled by the events that transpired, but he’s thrilled with the outcome.

There’s been no acknowledgment from anyone about the unauthorized test footage of a potential Deadpool film that surfaced online, piquing fans’ curiosity and ultimately leading to the production of the first movie. Even Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige is unsure of the origins of this intriguing sneak peek. When asked by TopMob’s Sean O’Connell, Feige shared…

As a curious observer and avid fan, I have witnessed that footage with great interest, sharing the same initial reaction as many others. Yet, despite my questioning of Ryan about the true events, the full story remains elusive to me. However, if we are to believe that what transpired before us was a masterful play, then I wholeheartedly commend those involved for their skill and execution. It’s moments like these that make sports so captivating, and ultimately, bring us all together in shared excitement.

Ryan Reynolds has long been considered the main suspect for leaking the footage due to his strong connection with the project. As he was deeply invested in bringing “Deadpool” to life, some might have suspected him of taking drastic measures to ensure its production, even if this remained an unproven theory. However, Reynolds himself has never confessed to this act, while Feige points out that he hasn’t denied it either.

It seems that while Feige expresses ignorance, there’s a strong suspicion that he had access to this information at Fox Studios. According to Rob Liefeld, some individuals there were keeping quiet about it.

From a passionate fan’s perspective, I can’t deny the significant influence that leaked Deadpool footage had on the movie’s success. The intense buzz around it proved to the studio that there was a massive audience waiting for this unique superhero tale. Interestingly enough, the scene in that initial sneak peek made it into the final cut of the film almost unaltered.

Given that no one has confessed to the crime after all this time, the truth might remain a mystery. However, there’s always a chance we’ll discover what transpired since there seems to be little consequence for those involved. If those at Fox truly knew about the leaked footage, they apparently didn’t care enough to take action. And if they were unaware, it’s unfortunate that Fox no longer exists to hold anyone accountable… I mean, whoever was responsible for releasing the video.
